Garuda Airlines Company Profile

Indonesian airline Garuda Indonesia is the concept of a full service airline (airline with full service). Garuda Indonesia currently operate a fleet of 82 to serve 33 domestic routes and 18 international routes, including Asia (Regional South East Asia, Middle East, China, Japan, anda South Korea), Australia and Europe (Netherlands).

As a form of concern for safety, Garuda Indonesia has been awarded the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).This proves that the airline is in compliance with international standards in the field of safety and security.

To improve service, Garuda Indonesia has launched a new service called "Garuda Indonesia Experience". This new service offers a concept that reflects the genuine hospitality of Indonesia in all aspects. To support this service, all new fleet equipped with the most cutting-edge interior, which features individual touch-screen LCD TVs throughout Executive and economic class. In addition, passengers are also pampered with Audio and Video on Demand (AVOD) entertainement system which offers a wide selection of movies or songs, as voted by each passenger.

Various awards were received by Garuda Indonesia as proof of its superiority. In 2010, Skytrax named Garuda Indonesia as a "Four Star Airline" and as "The World's Most Improved Airline Best". Subsequently in July 2012, Garuda Indonesia Received the award for "World's Best Regional Airline" and "Best Regional Airlines in the World". A consulting agency called the Centre for Asia airlines Aviation (CAPA), which is based in Sydney, also gave awards to Garuda Indonesia as "These are the Most Changing Policy of the Year", in 2010. While Roy Morgan, an independent research institute in Australia, also give awards to Garuda Indonesia as the "Best International Airline" in January,. February and July 2012.

Garuda Indonesia has managed to turn its bow, so as to avoid failure in times of crisis and achieve success in the era of 2006 to 2010. After going through hard times, now Garuda Indonesia to continue its success with running the 5-year expansion program aggressively. The program is known as the 'Quantum leap'. The program is expected to bring the company into larger, with a wider network and accompanied by an increasingly better quality of service.

Garuda Indonesia currently has three hubs in Indonesia. The first is the business hub located at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta. The second is a tourism hub in the region that are at ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar, Bali. Then to increase flight frequency to eastern Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia also has a hub at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

Apart from its core business as an airline, Garuda Indonesia also has a usiness unit (Strategic Business Unit / SBU) and its subsidiaries. Business unit is Garuda Cargo Garuda Indonesia and Garuda Medical Center. While Indonesia is subsidiary of PT Garuda Indonesia Citilink, the low fare airline (Low Cost Carrier), Aerowisata (Hotel, Ground transportaion, catering and travel agents), PT Abacus Distribution Systems Indonesia (ticket reservation system provider), PT Aero Systems Indonesia / Asyst (provider of information technology services to industry and transportation pariwisata) and PT Garuda Maintenance Facility (GMF), which is a company engaged in the field of aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul.

In February 2011, Garuda Indonesia has become a public company and is listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.

Garuda Airlines History

The name "Garuda" was given by President Sukarno in which the name is taken from the Netherland's poem, written by famous poet of the time, Noto Soeroto; "Ik ben Garuda, Vishnoe's vogel, die zijn Vleugels uitslaat hoog bovine uw einladen", which means, "I am Garuda, Vishnu's bird that spread its wings high above your islands".

The first commercial flight from Calcutta to Rangoon conducted on January 26,1949, with the aircraft Douglas DC-3 Dakota numbered "001 RI" called "Indonesian Airways". In the same year, on December 28, 1949, another DC-3 aircraft are listed as "PK-DPD" with logos "Garuda Indonesia Airways" flight from Jakarta to Yogyakarta to meet President Soekarno. This is the first flight made to behalf of Garuda Indonesia Airways.

A year later, in 1950, Garuda Indonesia is officially registered as a state enterprise. In that period, the company operates a fleet of 38 aircraft, including 22 DC-3, 8 Catalina flying boat, and 8 Convair 240. The fleet continues to grow, and Garuda Indonesia made its first flight to Mecca when carrying Indonesian Pilgrims in 1956. Service flights by Garuda Indonesia to the European countries started in 1965 with Amsterdam as its final destination.

During the 80s, Garuda Indonesia to conduct a large-scale restructuring and fleet operations. During this period the company began to develop a comprehensive training program for staff and cabin crew, as well as set up training facility in West Jakarta named Garuda Indonesia Training Center. The company is also building an Aircraft Maintenance Center at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

In the early 90s, Garuda Indonesia to develop a long-term strategy that was applied until 2000. The company continues to develop its fleet and Garuda Indonesia has entered the ranks of the 30 largest airlines in the world.

In addition to initiatives in business development, a new management team to manage the company in early 2005, and formulated new plans for the future of Garuda Indonesia. Garuda Indonesia new management conduct a comprehensive re-evaluation and restructuring of the company overall. The goal is to improve operational efficiency gain financial stabilitas involving efforts at restructuring debt obligations including leasing (leasing liabilities) from the European Export Credit Agency (ECA), increase awareness among employees about the importance of service for passengers, anda most important, revive and revitalize the spirit of Garuda Indonesia.

Success in the corporate debt restructuring program, paving the way for Garuda Indonesia to offer its shares to the public (go public) in 2011.

Reservation made through the booking engine also constitue a request, and the truth of this request comply with rules in terms of the rate listed is the responsibility of you, we do not guarantee the fare quoted until the booking is confirmed by one of our consultants, Airlines and other suppliers may change prices without notice.

  2. Recognition booking
    Recognition of your booking request will be sent via e-mail or phone within 48 hours of your request is received. Make sure you check your e-mail regularly. Payment must be received within 72 hours of booking confirmation unless otherwise agreed by us the agent. Failure to pay for tickets within this time resulted in automatic cancellation of the booking. We are not responsible for any losses incurred due to automatic cancellation or failure of e-mail delivery.

  3. Travel Documentation
    Passport, Visa and Health requirements are the responsibility of all individual travelers. Passports are requeired for all travelers departing Australia. Permanent residents travelling with a foreign passport must hold Australian Re-entry Visa. Many countries require that foreign nationals entering hold a passport with at least six months validity. We will assist in providing informatioan based on the information provided by you in the booking form or booking engine. This information and other related information provided by the agent and any links within the site are given in good faith, but should be treated as a guide only. Final responsibility for ensuring documentation is correct is that of the individual traveler. Posting / couriering travel documentation is the responsibility of you. Agent will not be responsible for tickets lost by a third party, any costs associated with the delivery of reset and documentation will be at your expense.

  5. Booking Cancellation
    and costs may be payable in respect charges certain change transactions entered into using the service, as notified at the time of the relevant transaction. These costs may include cancellation fees and where amendment is permitted, amendment fee. In some cases, may charge cancellation agent and / or cost changes than those imposed by travel service providers. Unless notified to you at the time of entry into the relevant transaction, a fee of $150 payable to the agent in connection with any cancellation, and where permittes reservation changes, costs $ 30 is payable to the agent for each permitted amendment in addition to any cost airline / operatior who applie. Before the transaction, you should carefully check to see if any other cancellation or amandement fee applies. This fee will be deducted from your credit card at the time charges are incurred.

  6. Travel Insurance
    It is recommended that all travelers obtain travel insurance agains cancellation or change fee as well as providing sufficient medical cover.

  7. Changes in Terms and Conditions
    Agent have the authority and the right to at any time it sees fit to change or modify all or part of these terms and conditions.

Garuda Airlines Check-In

IMPORTANT:
Garuda Indonesia domestic flights will move to Terminal 3 Soekarno Hatta International Airport (CGK) effective from 9 August 2016 onward.

Counter Check-In
We advise passengers to check-in at the airport no later than 1 (one) hour prior to departure for the purpose of domestic or 2 (Two) hours prior to departure to overseas destinations, but it would be better if you arrive at the airport earlier than the specified.

City Check-In
City Check-In service is available at Garuda Indonesia sales office (domestic or international branch office) and can be accessed within 24 hours up to 4 hours before departure.

Web Check-In
Web Check-In is offered by Garuda Indonesia is another way to check in via the web site. This service is only available for the domestic flight.

Phone Check-In
The passengers who had tickets and / or have purchased throught the online system to check-in by phone with Garuda Indonesia Call Center.

Mobile Check-In
The passengers who had tickets and / or have purchased through the online system to checkin by phone with Garuda Indonesia Call Center. Mobile Check-In is currently in development and will be activated as soon as possible.

General Baggage Rules of Garuda Indonesia

A. Unchecked Baggage

Unchecked baggage is put into the overhead compartment or under the seat, according to interior arrangement of the aircraft cabin. Unchecked baggage comprises of the following two categories:
1. Free carry on items
Items carried free of charge in the passenger cabin subject to the passengers own supervision and responsibility. These articles are not labeled.

  1. Cabin baggage
    Articles carried in the passenger cabin subject to the passenger’s own supervision and responsibility. These articles are labeled. Cabin baggage may only comprise those articles which are suitable to be carried in the passenger cabin. It may have a maximum length 56 cm, width 36 cm or depth 23 cm, however sum of the three dimensions shall not exceed 115 cm or weight of 7 kg.
    Exception for Economy class CRJ and ATR : maximum length 41 cm, width 34 cm or depth 17 cm, however sum of the three dimensions shall not exceed 92 cm or weight of 7 kg.

B. Checked Baggage

Checked baggage (also called registered baggage) comprises articles which are weighed and carried in the baggage or cargo compartment of the aircraft. They are not accessible to the passengers during the flight. These articles are labeled with special baggage tags showing the station of arrival and a serial number. A portion of this tag is attached to the passenger’s ticket for identification purposes only and must as a rule be surrendered at the station of arrival. Garuda Indonesia has imposed a strict ruling to ensure that each single piece of item or baggage checked-in does not exceed 70 lbs/32 kg.
