Introduction

Bangkok Airways (PG) is a full flight airline flying to domestic & international routes. The airline gives the passengers with a cabin baggage allowance of 5 kg and maximum size of 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm (L x W x H) for Airbus A319 & Airbus A320 or 50 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm (L x W x H) for ATR 72. The international route fare includes checked baggage allowance of 20 kg while the domestic route ticket fare also includes free checked baggage allowance of 20 kg. Bangkok Airways, the airline operating under the Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited, is a Thai full flight airline. Its IATA code is PG, while its ICAO code is BKP. The airline operates both domestic and international routes from its hub at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Currently, the airline flies to 30 destinations in total - 18 domestic destinations in Thailand, and 12 international destinations. The countries that the airline flies to are as follows: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Singapore, and Vietnam. Although the airline’s service is limited to Asia, it is in alliance with various international airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Qantas, and LAN Airlines. History

In 1968 Mr. Prasert Prasarttong-Osoth, the owner of the Krungthep Sakahol Company Limited, established an airline business as one of the departments in his company. However in 1984, he founded the Sakahol Air which then took over the airline business first established under Krungthep Sakahol. Sakahol Air then changed its name to Bangkok Airways. On 20 January 1986, the airline operated its inaugural flight on the Bangkok – Nakhon Ratchasima, Bangkok – Surin and Bangkok – Krabi routes using its Bandeirante EMB-110 aircrafts. A couple of years later, the airline obtained its IATA Code “PG" and is allowed to operate new flight route to Koh Samui. In 1992, the airline added a Foker-100 jet to its fleet and followed by two ATR72 aircrafts in the next two years. More deliveries of aircrafts such as the Boeing 717-200 was made in the 2000’s further enhance the airline’s flight performance. On 9 April 2007, the airline was given the Garuda Emblem, a Thai royal warrant award for companies who have performed exceptionally. Last but not least, the airline started being listed in the Stock Exchange of Thailand under the name Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited, or BA.

The Bangkok Airways flight attendants wear uniform that utilizes the company’s signature color: blue. The female flight attendants’ blouse uses two different shades of the colour: true blue and turquoise as color blocking line on the front part of the blouse, striking colour against the white sleeves and body. It is paired with either skirt or pants, all in turquoise. The male flight attendants’ also uses blue, although it is only used on their tie since their uniform is a set of grey smart casual jacket and trousers.

Excess Baggage

If your baggage weighs more than the allowance, you will have to pay the excess baggage rate. This also applies if you want to add extra baggage allowance. The extra baggage will be charged per kilogram depending on the flight route you take with the airline. For domestic flight baggage, the fee is THB 90 per kilogram. While for the international excess baggage charge rate depends on the zone of the flight. If the checked baggage is more than 32kg, the baggage must be repacked since the maximum weight of one item/luggage is 32kg. The online check in time is from 24 hours to 1 hour before the scheduled departure time. The check in page can be accessed on the airline’s official website, here that you can access on desktop or mobile connected to the internet.

Airport Check-in

As for airport check in, it depends on where you are flying from and whether you are flying domestic or international flight. For passengers flying in domestic Thai routes, the check in counter opens 90 minutes and closes 40 minutes before the departure time. For flights on the international route, the counter opens 120 minutes and closes 50 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.

Kiosk Check-in

Passengers can also use the kiosk check in service at the airport. The service is available 24 hours to 1 hour prior to the departure. However, this is only available at the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport, and Samui Airport.

App Check-in

It is possible for Bangkok Airways passengers to check in through the airline’s official mobile (Android/iOS) app. To do this, the passengers should download the Bangkok Airways mobile application on their mobile phone. The check in time is 24 hours before the flight departure time.

Fare Rules

Flight ticket with the airline is refundable, whether it is because the flight is cancelled by the airline because of delay or other matters, or voluntary refund by the passenger. The refund request form are available here Changes to the flight such as changing the date of departure, and route (reroute) is possible with the airline. You only have to contact the airline’s customer service, and pay a change booking fee and the ticket price difference if any. If there is a mistake in the passenger name on the ticket, the airline allows name correction. The passenger will have to provide a copy of the passport, and contact the airline’s customer service center by email, or by phone call. However, a complete name change is not allowed. Passengers are allowed to request for a wheelchair if needed at the time of booking, or at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure. However, if you have a wheelchair of your own, it is important to notify the airline at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure. Information on size, weight, battery voltage (for battery operated wheelchair) should be provided. As for passengers who want to take their pets (cats and/or dogs only), can read the airline’s pet policy on this page. Any changes, including cancellation made after the booking will be charged a fee of THB 500-1000 for domestic flights, and THB1000-2000 for international flights.
